With extreme diversity in plant and wildlife “The Thirty Thousand
Islands” is a complex association of bays, inlets, sounds,
islands and shoals lying along the edge of the Canadian Shield bedrock.
In 2004 UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural
Organization) designated the area as a Biosphere Reserve

has been declared the International Year of Deserts and Desertification.
The decision was taken to help prevent the exacerbation of desertification
around the globe. The Delawana Inn proudly supports the UN in the
convention to combat Desertification.
