Disc Golf
Adventure Course Delawana
Explanation

In the last 25 years of the 20th century a new sport emerged bringing together people from all walks of life, all fitness levels and all ages. Incorporating the two popular sports Frisbee and Golf, Disc Golf was born. Disc Golf has grown faster than any other sport throughout the world with the number of disc golf courses now exceeding 3,000. Tournaments are now easily found and Championship tournaments are taking place on an annual basis all over the country and the globe.

Disc Golf has many fitness advantages as it brings together a low impact aerobic activity with the fun and excitement of playing a game. As it is with Golf, the exercise is just the added benefit of playing a game you truly enjoy. The courses are designed to fit naturally into the landscape and are environmentally friendly utilizing the natural elements such as trees, shrubs, terrain as obstacles to make them challenging.

The Delawana introduced our Disc Golf course in 2006 giving our guests a fun way to get to know our 25 acre property. We have a 9 basket course that reaches from our Golf Course all the way up to North Beach. All ages enjoy this engaging activity that uses a much smaller and heavier version of the traditional Frisbee. Based upon the sport of Golfing, the object of the game of Disc Golf is to navigate the course from start to finish with the fewest number of disc throws.

Excellent for team building, Disc Golf can build relationships out of co-operation, courtesy and competition that will challenge the mind, body and soul. But most of all your team will have FUN, laughs and success. Tournaments can be set up which include the full course play as well as awards or recognition of ‘closest to the pin’ and ‘putting’ competitions. Different styles of play can be used to even out the playing field on top of just adding that element of entertainment.

@ Nines: One to five attempts are made at each of nine different throwing positions. Points are awarded based on the position and the number of throws.

Bulls Eye: Players line up 100 feet from the target and are awarded points depending how close their disc lands to the bull’s eye. Points range from 5-points to up to 100-points with 100-points being the most if your disc lands in the basket.

Miniature Disc Golf: Teams of 2 to 4 players play our 9-hole Disc Golf course tossing for the lowest possible score. Beware of hazards!

Best Shot: Make teams of 2, 3, 4 or 5 players. Everyone on the team tees off. The team will then decide which shot is the best and they all play from that spot this continues until the team scores.

Best Disc: Each player plays the hole on their own and the team records the best score of the two.

Blind Draw: At the end of the round, randomly draw scorecards to produce 2 person teams. Take the best net score of either player and make a complete scorecard for the team. Lowest team score wins.

Blind Nine: Make teams of 2, 3, 4 or 5 players. All teams play 9 holes of best shot. After the round is done, draw 5 random holes that are to be used to calculate the team score.

Florida Scramble: Best shot with a twist - Make teams of 3, 4 or 5 players. Everyone on the team tees off. The team then decides which shot is the best, then all players play from that spot except the player whose shot was chosen. The next shot same thing; the best shot is selected and everyone plays from there except the person whose shot was selected (the previous guy is back in). This continues on until the team holes out.

Swap Shot: You and your partner tee off, and then swap lies. You play from your partner’s lie, and he plays from yours. Each throws again. Repeat each time. Scoring can be done several ways: total of all throws per hole, best person’s (person with least number of throws), worst person’s (person with most number of throws).

True Alternate Shot: One player is chosen to tee off on the first hole of play and teammates then alternate shots all the way around the course until done with the round.

Tough Shot: Everyone on the team tees off. The opposing team then decides which shot is the worse and they both play from that spot. This continues on until the team scores. To finish the hole only one player needs to score.

Worst Disc: Each player plays the hole on their own and the team records the worst score of the two.

Worst Shot: Everyone on the team tees off. The opposing team then decides which shot is the worse and they both play from that spot. Continues on until the team scores, to finish the hole each player must make their putt.

333: The team plays 3 different formats for 9 holes, each format is played for 3 holes. All teams play the same format on the same three holes. You can use just about any 3 team formats you wish.
For example: holes 1-3 Best Disc; holes 4-6 Worse Disc; holes 7-9 Tough Shot.
