Georgian Bay Littoral Biosphere
With extreme diversity in plant and wildlife "The Thirty Thousand Islands" is a complex association of bays, inlets, sounds, islands and shoals lying along the edge of the Canadian Shield bedrock.
In 2004 UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific & Cultural Organization) designated the area as a Biosphere Reserve.
