How to Make a Really Bad First Impression…
Tell your Meeting Planner you’ll be charging them $500 to $1500 per day for the use of your Wi-Fi…….that’s how you make a really bad first impression!!
Not here! Not at the Delawana Inn Spa & Conference Resort. But to think that some hotels out there are still doing this. Sounds like a nickel and dime “red flag” to me!
We have always offered complimentary Wi-Fi – right from the beginning. And 2011 brings even better changes –Wi-Fi is now available property wide. This is wonderful news for our guests as you can now sit at the pool, relax in your room, catch a massage at the spa, take in the scenery on a leisurely boat cruise, or just sit on the docks with your fishing rod and watch the world go by, and know that you’ll always be connected – whenever you want to be, of course.
Let’s face it, complimentary Wi-Fi is everywhere now and meeting planners are expecting that service when they arrive on your doorstop. How can you expect them to pay for something that is being given away in small java shops, book stores and restaurants all over the country?
It’s wonderful to know when meeting planners leave the Delawana Inn Spa & Conference Resort they’ll be saying: “What a great location for conference. The environment was magnificent, the creative use of free time really added to our networking opportunities, and this is the best food we’ve ever had at a conference.” I can’t believe, all this and the Del is only 90 minutes north of Toronto.”
I am very proud to say I will never hear a meeting planner say, “The Del, yes it’s a wonderful location for a conference, but can you believe they charged me $1000 for their Wi-Fi service?”
So I’m really hoping that all big hoity-toity hotels out there keep getting creative as to how many levels of Wi-Fi plans they need to create and charge for in order to tick off the meeting planner and business person or general traveler even more.
Us, well we’ll just keep offering you free golf, canoeing, kayaking, pontoon boat cruises, island hiking & biking, tennis, racquetball, fitness equipment, mini golf, horseshoes, beach volleyball, badminton, basketball, road hockey AND Wi-Fi …..
You see, we get it – it’s just a cost of doing business….just like planting the flowers in the spring and raking the leaves in the fall.
